Today I am going to be talking about my first day writing/drawing in my wreck this journal. As most of you will know from my instagram (@erinhunter117) and last blog post I purchased a 'wreck this journal'. It arrived on Tuesday (thanks to amazon prime) but I didn't want to start it until the weekend.
I know that completing it is going to be a long process for me as sometimes I can be a perfectionist and I don't want to rush it! I will do a completed video when its finished . Yesterday I didn't complete much but I am going to be showing you how I decorated the front page and also how I have done my page numbers so far! ♡
This is the wreck it journal, here is a description of what it is about:
For anyone who's ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book featuring a subversive collection of suggestions, asking readers to muster up their best mistake - and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). There are instructions on each page telling you to poke holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, colouring outside the lines, and more!
My Journal so far...
So having started my 'wreck this journal' I have already found myself making a mess! But that honestly doesnt matter because you can clean up afterwards ♡
I haven't actually started to complete any of the instructions yet I just decided to decorate the first page. The wreck this journal has no rules it is all down to how you want it to look and your style. I am for sure going to be adding more colour to this first page and filling the blank one in besides it but this is it so far...
Here I just drew spikes around the title and also a bomb leading out of them. This idea was stolen off the internet so yes I know I am copying but I made it more of my style by colouring in the letters and adding a cartoon drawing of Mickey Mouse.
I would recommend finding page ideas on Google images if you are stuck for inspiration because they really help!
I also drew a line through the words 'To create is to destroy' -
this was just a personal touch I incorporated.
Here is a close up of the Mickey Mouse drawing - I just found a cartoon on the internet and drew it!
Remember you can draw/stick/glue/write/print whatever you want in your journal it is all about your creativity!
By the 'Penguin Books' I drew the penguin logo for the company because why not?!?!
You can also theme some of your pages I have seen some people do 'Harry Potter' pages etc...
So for the page numbers I opted for a bordering technique.
Although this was a brave decision (I have to do the numbers on every page) I am happy I have
decided to present them this way.
It is going to be a long, long process but hopefully it will be worth it!
If you want to achieve the same effect as me this is what I used:
(obviously you can use different materials for example coloured card and so on but these are the ones I used...)
I used the grey duck tape as the backdrop and then I printed off some numbers.
I cut the numbers up and placed them on top of the duck tape on each page.
Then I used clear sellotape to stick this all down.
If you want to do this I would recommend using two different types of scissors because the duck tape
is sticky and if you use the same scissors on the paper it may rip it.
♡ I hope you all enjoyed my 'wreck this journal' so far!
I know I haven't done much yet and its not that interesting but I worked hard on this blog post
and the photos so comment down below what you thought ♡
